Floodwaters rose and blizzards hit at the height of calving season. Millions of cattle, pigs and other livestock were lost.

Tens of thousands of acres destroyed. Fields buried in sand. Precious topsoil washed away. Last year’s hard-earned grain stockpiles lost.
